NAL MATCH AT BOURNEMOUTHHi All, hope you have enjoyed the performances of the Club's athletes at the UK Championships in Manchester, it was good to see the Amber, Red & Black vests in action over the weekend. Ben Pattison who has already been selected to compete in the Commonwealth Games ran well and congratulations to Caius Joseph on his silver medal in the Decathlon. In fact all those that competed did well.Further good news is the fact that our track at Down Grange has been refurbished and will be reopened for use by the end of the week.Next Saturday, 2nd July the 3rd of the National Athletics League fixtures takes place at Bournemouth and I am pleased to tell you that at present we are 7th in the League of 16 Clubs, go to the NAL website, click on Competitions, Tables, 2022 and Championship to see the Table. This week we are up against Crawley who are top, Chelmsford 2nd, City of Liverpool 5th, Herne Hill H 10th, Bournemouth 11th, Kingston & Poly 13th and Reading 15th. So a competitive match is in prospect. We would like to get out a strong team so if you havent let Ben Hazell our TM know that you are available please do so straight away. As usual it is filling all team spots that count so if you can turn out and run in events such as the Steeplechase or 5K or on the Field the Hammer and haven't already done so again contact Ben at ben_hazell@hotmail.com All that is required is a run round at the back of the field and good points will be secured and the rest of the team will appreciate the effort. Under 20s or Seniors welcome. Dont forget travel expenses will be made at the end of the season. The match starts at 11.00 am and those that can make it are most welcome. ... See MoreSee Less

ANOTHER GOOD DAY AT THE CHAMPIONSHIPSAfter a great race, Ben Pattison finished 4th in the Final of the UK Championship 800m. Finishing fast he couldn't quite catch the leaders down the home straight and placed just outside the medals in a time of 1.46:75. In a race where a fast pace was set throughout Ben showed great form and can look forward to the rest of season and no doubt lots of great performances. In the Women's final Gemma Finch was also with the leaders as they rounded the top bend but in the sprint for the tape was unable to maintain the speed needed and finished a good 6th in a time of 2.08:60. Also showing there is more to come. In the Women's Heptathlon, Higher Claim athlete Jordanna Morrish finished 4th with a new PB of 5211 points and indeed won the last event, the 800m in 2.20:09. While Laura Darcey after being DQ in the 200m on day 1, did for experience the Long Jump and Javelin but did not start the last event, saving her form for another day. ... See MoreSee Less
