ENGLISH SCHOOLS NATIONAL MULTI EVENTS CHAMPIONSHIPS EXETER September 17th and 18th

Three of the clubs athletes performed very well in an extremely high standard championship where several records were broken.

Matty Hobbs u15, despite little training, in the Junior boys Pentathlon (5 events) finished 21st with a PB points total of 2333 having clocked a Pb time of 12.29 in the 80m hurdles, 1cm short of a Pb in the shot and his second best high jump at 1.64m.

Hannah Haugvik u17 who had not trained for about 6 weeks due to injury competing in the Intermediate girls Heptathlon (7 events) finished 23rd with a points total of 4128 which was only slightly short of her PB. Hannah was within a cm of equalling her shot pb, ran a pb in the 800m and bettered her javelin pb by almost FIVE metre. With her fellow Hampshire team of four girls, they not only took the Championship Title, but ALSO broke the Championship point’s record.

Caius Joseph u20 was suffering all weekend with a bad throat infection, but this did not prevent him in the Senior boys Decathlon (10 events) to get pb in the 100m of 11.25, pb in the shot and a pb in the pole vault of 3.40m, which along with a second best high jump of 1.79 helped bring his points total to a PB of 6011 and 5th place, and a UK ranking of 8th, The Senior boys team finished 3rd and the Junior girls team 2nd.
