MORE FROM Hampshire T&F Championships A Roundup from junior age groups jumps and hurdles by Andy Sleap. Mixed weather with first day perfect conditions for Marcus Hartgill u13 to take the GOLD medal in Long Jump with a PB of 4.24m , and training partner Alec Hay also putting in a good performance. Despite being unable to train since the track was closed for refurbishment, they had not fallen behind from what achieved during earlier training. The same applied with the High Jump, with Lenka Addington some good jumping in the u17, and likewise Thea Gair in the u20’s where she took SILVER. In u15 girls Denaya Guma a PB by 10cm of 1.45m and Mia Hartgill 1.50m, just shy of her best, took the SILVER medal which, though equalling the gold medalist on height, had an extra failure as the competition had progressed. Then the weather turned and Sunday was rubbish for the high jumpers, with wind and rain, but this did not stop Ronnie Woods u15 finishing one height short of equalling his PB, and the same with Ben Edwards, one height short, but good enough for the u17 GOLD medal. Sunday also saw the u15 girls Emma Hawes and Denaya Guma doing long jump in the rain, whilst jumping well, conditions were not helpful for PB’s. Saturday saw three Triple jumpers, who again no recent practice, but still kept their technique with u17 Lenka Addington equalling her PB, and under 20s Libbie French, and Audrey Ojo not too far away from theirs. All the hurdlers, who again no recent event training due to track closure, had a mix as to weather, on Saturday with good weather, Denaya Guma and Mia Hartgill both had PBs in 75mH, and on the Sunday despite a minus 2.3/sec wind, Ben Edwards attained a PB and GOLD medal in the 100m hurdles. Added info for other coach groups:U13 Ryan Jeffery’s Long jump of 4.00m earned him the BRONZE Medal. U17 Lauren Sawers, a new Long jump PB, 4.28m..………………….....................................................................................Andy’s training sessions for Hurdles, long jump, triple jump and high jump will all resume when DG track reopens, meantime he feels it is encouraging to see no one has dropped back over recent weeks. And hopefully also some good points to come at forthcoming league matches. ... See MoreSee Less

Hampshire HoppitIt is (just over) 3-weeks until our flagship BMHAC public race, the Hampshire Hoppit. We are very short of the volunteers that make it happen so if you can spare a couple of hours or maybe more, on Sunday 12 June, in Kingsclere, then your club will be so very grateful. The areas we need most help is as follows:Course marshals(please email Jacques at jacques67@hotmail.co.uk) drink station helpers (please email Ruud at rudi.kruijsse@gmail.com) registration/parking/beertent (please email me at tim.fowler@hotmail.co.uk) The day before the event, we need help with the course marking (please email Simon at simon@snc.me.uk) Please offer it if you can, we will sleep better at night when we know that we have our full complement of helpers. The entire team of volunteers will be over 120 people, and therefore this is a significant plea, as you can probably understand. Many thanks Tim Fowler - Race Director ... See MoreSee Less
