Basingstoke’s athletes performed well at the Hants Cross Country League event held at Reading. Top performance came from Maddie Deadman in the Under 17 Women’s race, (photo 1 Maddie leaves the rest of the field behind) winning by 18 secs. Cameron Coveney finished 2nd in the Under 13 Boys race narrowly missing out on a win (photo 2 Cameron battles for a win in a sprint finish). There were two other top 3 finishes, James Beeks in the Under 17 Men’s event and Jaden Harper in the Under 11 Boys race both finishing 3rd. Top Senior Man was Alex Hamilton (photo 3 Alex in action up the hills) placing 15th of 166 runners.
The 30 athletes from the Club that competed did the Club proud again but the numbers competing with those that could was again disappointing and an insult to the Coaches that give their timely freely for this to happen.
