Basingstoke men get off to a good start in division 1 at Watford.
They finished 5 after the first match but there were only a few points between 3rd & 5th place.

Hopefully with a slightly stronger team we can finish in the top half of the league.
There were wins for Ben Hazell in the A discus throwing 42.73m and Alexander Hansson in the A 800m with an excellent time of 1.52.15. Owen Richardson, Dean Showler-Davies, Andy Blow & Cameron Newton grabbed a comfortable win in the 4 x 100m in a time of 41.46s and probably the best performance by a Basingstoke athlete was from Owen Richardson winning the 400m in a good time of 47.22s at the age of just 17.
Basingstoke & Mid Hants men’s team put in a solid performance in the opening match of the season in the British Athletics League at Watford on Saturday. There were wins for Alex Hanson running 800m in 1.52.15. Owen Richardson opened his outdoor 400m season, both of them smashing their personal bests by over a second for Owen and 2 seconds for Alex.
Team Captain and manager Ben Hazell won the Discus with a throw over 42m after Long Jumping 5.93 putting the Shot 12.31, throwing the Javelin over 52m, Pole Vaulting 3.60 High Jumping 1.80 then completing a busy day ran a leg of 4x400m at the end of the day.
Dean Showler Davis made a good return to competition after missing most of last season through injury gaining 2nd in100m in10.6 and 3rd in 200m with s good time of 21.64. Jamie Kheunel making his debut in the team hurled the Hammer, producing a personal best of 53.81m. Joe Flitcroft in the B string event threw 43.32 both of them gaining second places in the event. Ryan Boniface once again consistent in his jumping cleared 2.05 in the HJ for another 2nd place. Stalwart team member Andy Blow sprinted to 2nd place in the 110mh after a swift 3rd place in 100m B race. Niall Carney, another newcomer to the team also produced a pb in the 400m H with a time of 54.66, 2 secs faster than his previous lifetime best then ran his first race over the men’s high hurdles for a creditable 4th place in 16.86. Another pb was set by a new comer to the team Cameron Newton in the 200m with a time of 22.49.
