South East Inter Counties Schools Report

Three new Club records were set at this event held at Carshalton last Saturday.

In the Inter Girls 800 m Rebecca Bullock ran away from the field to break her own club record in recording 2 min 12.0 secs. Next up in the Junior Boys age group, Ben Pattinson moving up to the 1500 m won in time of 4.09.2 to break David Stanley’s long standing record by over 4 secs. Rebecca Poole made it 3 when she beat her own record in the Inter Girls 1500 m Steeple Chase winning in 5.11.1.

 

All three have been selected to run in the English Schools Championships at Gateshead and they are joined by a number of others who did well at Carshalton. In the Inter Girls 100 m  Mair Edwards won her heat in 12.6 while Lydia Summers was 4th in the 300 m recording 40.70. Hannah Haugvik doubled up, running 12.0 in the 80 m Hurdles for 3rd and jumping 1.62 m for 1st B competitor in the High Jump. In the Shot Putt, Millie Cook putt 13.09 m for 2nd and Malachai Gair won the Inter Boys High Jump clearing 1.92 m.

 

Others representing Hampshire Schools from Basingstoke were Catherine Edwards, 3rd Junior Girls 200 m with 26.60. Amber Clare 3rd B Inter Girls 300 m in 40.90 and Emily Cornwall, 5th Junior 300 m Hurdles with a time of 49.80. On the Boys side of things Jake Watts finished 5th in the Junior Boys 300 m in 39.30 and Ethan Hartley ran 2.04.10 for the 800 m in the Inter Boys race finishing 5th.

 

Another going to Gateshead is Owen Richardson in the Senior Boys 400 m. Owen has had a brilliant season and on Sunday finished 2nd in the England Under 20 Championships at Bedford.
